My name is Tarsha Degay, and I am a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Integrative Gestalt Therapist (CIGT) and an Addiction Counselor Candidate (ADCC). I graduated with a bachelor’s in human services and minored in addiction studies. I obtained my master’s degree from Colorado Christian University while majoring in Counseling.

I have worked in many facets such as housing, education and now policing. I am the owner and operator of Journee to Resilience Counseling Services. Although I love working with everyone, I specialize in working in communities of color, single parents, and veterans. The population I tend to focus on are high trauma clients, depression/anxiety, and a host of other ailments that folks may be experiencing. I pride myself in living and working in my community while delivering appropriate resources when needed.

I have been a part of leadership organizations such as Urban leadership Foundation and spoke on numerous panels regarding Mental health, Academics and Housing. While earning my college education, I have won academic scholarships which afforded me the ability to not pay for college rather than take out loans.

My goal in life is to assist anyone who may need it. My tag line is that when life throws you lemons, make lemonade!

personal statement

Have you wondered would life be different if you were not carrying the weight of the world? Have you felt that it is hard to connect with others who do not understand what you are experiencing? I am here to tell you that your past is not your story and your story begins now! Often, we are left to exist in a world without having a basic meaning in coping. We may think that we are "bad" or "damaged" for having such feelings. In fact, these are merely parts of ourselves that desire an open invitation for connectivity and healing. If you are open and curious in exploring meaning, I invite you to come and let us begin the journey...

Areas of Focus: Veteran and military barriers, Trauma-Informed therapist,  life transitions, single-parenting, Career transitions, grief and loss, Depression/Anxiety, multicultural counseling, individuals and couples.
